Eyewitness Details Time That 'Monster' Struck Northern Manchester Temple

A person who helped fortifying a house of prayer in northern Manchester has recounted how a violent incident unfolded, causing the loss of a pair of Jewish individuals.

That Thursday, Alan Levy was within the local synagogue when an attacker rammed a car into and attacked with a knife worshippers assembling for a ceremony to commemorate a significant religious event.

He explained that the 'evil' perpetrator tried to bash down the entrances of the place of worship, and he remembered securing the building with additional worshippers.

Two individuals, aged 53 and 66 lost their lives in the attack on that day, while additional persons were hurt while attempting to defend others.

Witness Description of the Attack

He, who serves as a Chair of the Trustees at the temple, explained holding the entry points and noted that the assailant used blades and garden containers to force his way inside.

"I saw this great, big, evil monster shoulder charge in the front doors, attempting to break them open holding a sharp weapon," he explained to interviewers.

"The only thing that was audible from him was 'this is what you're going to get for killing our children'.

Just those words he expressed. And we were behind the doors and we were declaring 'we are not letting this man in'.

He appeared as a crazed, violent individual."

Memorial Service Conducted for Victim

These remarks were made as a large gathering attended the funeral service for Mr Cravitz.

Relatives, attendees from the local Jewish community along with Rabbi Daniel Walker, and individuals of the broader community assembled in the local area to pay their respects.

Mourners crowded the burial ground, with many standing in the open the chapel in the downpour, listening to the proceedings over speakers.

In a message released on the following day, his relatives said that he had a helpful nature.

Authorities Inquiry and Apprehensions

Local authorities indicated that Mr Daulby was likely affected by law enforcement rounds as they engaged the assailant shortly after the alarm was raised.

He, who was hailed by his relatives as a "hero", was participating in a ceremony at the synagogue when the incident unfolded.

He remained a beloved brother, loving uncle to his family members and a valued relative," his loved ones stated.

His loved ones are shocked by the tragic, sudden death of a kind and humble individual.

"His final act was one of profound courage and he will forever be remembered for his courageous effort."

A number of apprehensions took place in relation to the attack, and authorities indicated that several individuals remained in custody on Sunday morning.

The detained were arrested on suspicion of terrorism-related activities.

The individuals detained include several men, of specific ages and both arrested in Prestwich; a 61-year-old woman detained locally; and a 46-year-old woman detained in another location.

Two additional individuals were let go with no additional charges, police reported on the following day.
