This action circumvents a judicial ruling that had prohibited the deployment of forces in the Oregon city by rather employing reserve personnel who were already serving in Los Angeles after recent unrest in the region.
California Gov Newsom promised to pursue a legal action over the action, which he labeled a "stunning abuse of the statutes and authority".
The Oregon city is the newest US urban area – a number of which are Democrat-led – targeted as part of the Trump's public safety campaign. He has stated that troops are essential to establish peace amid ongoing unrest over border policies.

"This move is not about public safety, it's about power. The leader is employing the armed forces as a ideological weapon against US residents," the governor said after the President dispatched the personnel to the Oregon city, accusing the president of disregarding legal decisions.
"Our administration will take this legal challenge to court, but the public cannot keep silent in the presence of such reckless and authoritarian conduct by the leader of the US."
Ongoing Demonstrations Related to Immigration Policies
Protests have been ongoing in Portland and additional cities over the president's heightened border control. Portland, in specific, has long received Trump's displeasure over its claimed presence of activists his followers refer to as far-left activists, meaning "anti-fascist". State Leaders Decry Action as Abuse of Power
Regional and local leaders have decried Trump's action plans in that area and labeled it an overreach of power. The state's Leader JB Pritzker said Donald Trump was "attempting to fabricate a situation".
On Sunday, Governor JB Pritzker stated to the news network that the authorisation of forces in Chicago will provoke unrest. He charged the administration of generating a "war zone" to rationalise the reaction.
"Federal officials desire mayhem on the ground. The government seek to generate the hostile environment so that they can deploy additional troops," he informed the network's Jake Tapper. "Officials are using every tool at their disposal to keep {us|
